Laura’s Serene Escape: A Solo Retreat to Oslofjord’s Hidden Gem

My adventure to Marianne’s cabin by Oslofjord

In late June, I embarked on a solo journey to Marianne’s charming cabin, perched right above the Oslofjord. My goal was to recharge in the embrace of Norwegian nature and tranquility, and this place offered exactly what I needed.

The cabin is situated on a hill, providing stunning views of the water, surrounded by lush greenery. Every morning, I indulged in a refreshing dip in the Oslofjord, just 300 meters from the cabin.

Where we stayed

The journey to the cabin was a bit chaotic, with a planned bike ride turning into a combination of three bus rides and a train trip. However, all the travel stress melted away the moment I received the keys to this gem. The cabin’s design is a perfect blend of elegance, minimalism, and modern comfort, all while maintaining a cozy atmosphere. One of my favorite features was the expansive glass windows that allowed me to enjoy the breathtaking views from every corner of the cabin.

Ferry Watching: Spend some time on the dock, watching the massive Oslo ferries glide through the fjord. It’s a peaceful and mesmerizing experience that connects you with the rhythm of the area.

How to plan for this adventure:

Visit During Summer: I highly recommend visiting Fjord Oslo in the summer to fully experience the beauty of the Norwegian sunsets. The long days and warm weather make for an unforgettable stay.

Plan Your Travel: Consider how you’ll get to and from the cabin, as it’s a bit of a journey from Oslo Airport. While buses can get you there, it’s worth planning your route in advance.

Pack Your Swimsuit: Don’t forget to bring your swimsuit so you can take full advantage of the fjord. The water is perfect for a refreshing swim, especially in the summer months.
