Fie’s road trip: Cozy cabin and lavvo adventure in Sweden
Our road trip from Copenhagen to the Swedish wilderness
My boyfriend and I sat off on a road trip from Copenhagen to Sweden, eager to explore two unforgettable stays. Our journey took us deep into the Swedish wilderness, first to a charming cabin in Furudal and then to a unique lavvo on a small island in Sorsele.
We went on this adventure to seek a break from everyday life, hoping to reconnect with nature and enjoy each other’s company. These two places gave us all of that and more.
First stop: A cozy night at Oddis Öga in Furudal
Our first stop was in Furudal, Dalarna, where we discovered Oddis Öga Cabin, hidden deep within the Swedish forest. Arriving at this peaceful retreat felt like stepping into another world. As soon as we got there, we lit the fireplace to warm the cabin and enjoyed a delicious meal delivered by our kind host.
The cabin, though small, had everything we needed. The seating area folded down into a large, comfortable bed, and the natural fireplace kept the cabin cozy and warm. We collected water nearby, and the fireplace doubled as a stove, making it easy to cook our dinner. One of the highlights of the stay was lying in bed, feeling the warmth from the fire, and looking out at the tranquil forest. We also enjoyed a relaxing sauna session before turning in for the night - perfect way to end the day.

Second stop: A winter adventure at a Lavvo on its own Island
After a peaceful night in Furudal, we continued our road trip to Sorsele, where we stayed in a lavvo on a small island. The drive itself was scenic, and we were even lucky enough to spot a reindeer along the way! When we arrived, our host gave us a thrilling snowmobile ride across the frozen lake to the lavvo. In the summer, guests can reach the island by boat.
Despite the cold, the lavvo’s fire stove kept us warm and comfortable. We spent the evening sitting around the outdoor campfire, explored the island, and later heated up the sauna before taking a bracing dip in the ice-cold lake. Afterward, we cozied up inside the lavvo by the small stove, falling asleep to the sound of crackling wood. The experience was both exhilarating and peaceful, making it a night to remember.
