Family friendly environment, experience off-grid living with the comforts of modern living thanks to it's solar technology. Decorated with a Moroccan theme, this light and airy space is also very cozy and romantic. Enjoy views of the river from decking/yoga space or the bed. The yurt is on its own private terrace surrounded by impressive schist stone walls and grape vines. This colourful and spacious yurt is great for couples and families wanting to reconnect with nature. The Yurt will comfortably fit 4 people (an extra bed can be provided for an additional child on request) making it great place to base your family holiday. During winter the cast iron wood stove provides ample heating and unique cooking experience with wood heated hobs and oven. There are gas hobs and all necessary utensil for cooking, plus a charcoal bbq outside. A Yoga mat is available as well as picnic blankets and garden furniture. The yurt is fitted with up-to-date solar system to provide plenty of evening lighting and can charge phones and many other small electrical devices. We have made our own solar hot water panel for summer use and compliment this with a newly installed gas powered shower for all year use, so the yurt is now an even more comfortable space to be in. Come, relax and enjoy!!! This ancient vineyard offers a stunning and unique get away. The yurt is situated on a stone walled terraced enclosed by grape vines. This offers guest privacy and seclusion with their own compost toilet. There is also an indoor kitchen area with gas hobs, plus outdoor washing up facilities. Walking trails that lead to the river can be accessed directly from the site. We can help guests with planning activities, such as hiking, fishing, water sports. We can give you details about the best places to explore, enjoy a picnic or eat out! The local lake is very popular with fishermen and prize winning carp and river bass can be caught. We can assist guests with obtaining a fishing license. The direct surroundings of Dragonfly Valley offers a splendid place to enjoy the peace and beauty of nature, to watch the birds or take part in some of the many activities available: 1. Hiking trails 2. Mountain biking 3. Quad hire and go-karting 4. 4x4 off road thrill seeking tour 5. Paintballing 6. Kayak and canoe hire and tours 7. Speed boat and jet ski hire 8. Fishing with chances to catch Trout, Carp, Barbel, Tench, Bass and Bream. 9. Relax at one of the many river beaches also known as Praias Fluviais. They offer a safe place for the children to swim and amenities such as toilets and cafes. Visit all the picturesque villages in the direct surroundings such as Pedrogão Grande, Pedrogão Pequeno, Mosteiro. A little further down the road is the world heritage site in Tomar, or the historical university city of Coimbra just a 35 minute drive north. Own transport is advisable to make the most of your stay but we can arrange pick ups from the local town. We have plenty of safe parking available. We are only a short walk to the lake, and 30 minute hike to a high quality restaurant and river beach. Please bring with you drinking water and be aware that their is no refrigerator. A coolbox is provided with ice blocks that can we swapped over daily. There is lighting in the yurt and toilet, but please bring torches to help light your way as it is very dark if you return to site at night. The star gazing is amazing though! Please be aware that we provide bed linens but do not provide towels, as the washing load would be too much for our off-grid system. The access to the property is down a dirt track which is a little bumpy in places. As a rural holiday let we must advice that there are areas of uneven ground, hence we can not provide specific access for the infirm. The yurt is situated on the lower terrace and involves an at times steep walk from the car through the vineyard to the secluded terrace.

Hi, for those who do not know us yet, we are Pippa & Ian and Murray & Leela the rescue dogs. We are originally from the South West of England and moved to Portugal to embark on our dream of living more simply, away from the hustle and bustle of modern day life. Dragonfly Valley was established by Joe and Nicole a few years ago as a unique glamping holiday destination and we took over from their capable hands in February 2020. We found that, in our little slice of paradise, where we are supported by nature: The water is supplied by a well, which in turn is sustained by the magnificent Rio Zezere, which also offers us with spectacular views. The sun provides us with all our electrical energy and hot water. The trees offer us an abundance of fruits and nuts. We are situated in an old terraced vineyard, which provides us with plenty of juice, wine and eating grapes. With over 100 vines to maintain and harvest we welcome any one who is interested in learning. One day we hope to be able to grow more of our own food but for now we will be aiming to grow vegetables and fresh salads, whilst purchasing anything else we need from local growers, farmers and markets wherever possible Our days consist of watering the flower gardens, playing with Murray & Leela under the giant apple tree, swimming in the river below us and preparing for and greeting our guests. We hope you will find that we offer a space in which you can enjoy the benefits of an eco-friendly lifestyle whilst relaxing in the gifts that nature has provided in beautiful central Portugal.
